Which Housecall Pro price book tool should you use?
These tools solve different problems. The right choice depends on whether you are building a price book, tuning margins, or trying to make sure an edited file is safe to put back into Housecall Pro.
| Tool | Best fit | Pricing model | Primary strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| Housecall Pro native Price Book | Running and editing the price book inside Housecall Pro | Included with Housecall Pro plan features | Native workflow, import wizard, field mapping and correction inside HCP |
| Profit Rhino | Prebuilt flat-rate price-book content for supported trades | $199/month as listed by Housecall Pro on Aug. 6, 2026 | Industry price books, HCP onboarding and recurring content updates |
| PriceTuneup | Margin analysis and pricing optimization for HCP contractors | $299/year app and $249 rebuild as listed on PriceTuneup on Sep. 9, 2026 | Margin leak analysis, pricing calculators and CSV-based price tuning |
| ImportFix | Checking an edited or migrated file before import or re-import | Free scan and Change Audit; $29/$49 corrected-file download | Browser-local validation, before/after audit and supported deterministic repairs |
Use Housecall Pro native tools when the work belongs inside HCP
Housecall Pro already has a built-in price book and an import workflow for CSV and Excel files. Its importer maps columns, checks formatting and gives you a chance to correct errors. If your problem is simply maintaining services and materials inside HCP, start there.
Use Profit Rhino when you want a prebuilt trade price book
Profit Rhino is a different category. Housecall Pro describes it as a paid feature for HVAC, plumbing, drain cleaning and electrical businesses that provides prebuilt industry price books, onboarding and ongoing updates. It is aimed at building and maintaining pricing content, not at auditing an arbitrary edited spreadsheet before re-import.
Use PriceTuneup when the main problem is margin and pricing
PriceTuneup focuses on pricing economics: margin leaks, target margins, flat-rate calculations and price-book rebuild work. If the question is "what should I charge?", that is much closer to its core use case than ImportFix.
Use ImportFix when the main problem is file risk
ImportFix is for the moment after a price book has been exported, edited, cleaned up or migrated and before it goes back into Housecall Pro. It can validate one CSV/XLSX file or compare the original with the edited version to surface changes such as zeroed prices, missing columns, category changes or identifiers that disappeared.
